Happy Valentine's Day!! Welcome to the first ever Fun Stampers Journey Blog Hop! I'm so glad you're here!!! If you arrived from Vicki Soni's blog you are on the right track - wasn't her candy project amazing?! If I am your first stop that's okay, you are welcome to start here and go through the list so you see all the beautiful creations. Seriously, don't miss them!!
For this card I used the Whale You stamp set (FREE Bloom Benefit choice with $50 order - page 5 in the Spring Catalog). The base of my card is Blue Lagoon card stock layered with Whip Cream card stock. Using my Journey Grand Machine and the Snapshot Frames die I cut 'Love' out of Cool Pool card stock and the frame out of Blue Lagoon card stock; which I embossed with the Yummy Dots embossing folder. I placed the frame on a matte of Cool Pool card stock. I stamped the whale in Clear Pigment ink on Whip Cream card stock and heat embossed with Journey Black embossing powder and my heat gun. I used reinkers, Fusion Blender and my Blending Brush to color the whale - Pool Play on the whole whale and then I darkened the bottom with Beach Breeze and highlighted the top with Cool Pool. I used Whip Cream reinker to color the dots on his belly. Once he was dry I cut him out, added a Wiggle Eye and popped him up using Journey Foam Squares on a piece of Whip Cream card stock with a matte of Blue Lagoon card stock behind it. The heart whale spout and 'Whale You Be My Valentine' sentiment are from the same Whale You stamp set and are stamped in Blue Lagoon ink - I hand cut the sentiment banner from Whip Cream card stock and popped it up using Journey Foam Squares. For the ribbon embellishment I used Cool Pool satin ribbon (love this color, love this ribbon, I can't even.....) and White Liner Tape. I put two strips of the tape across the front of the card and simply 'smooshed' (this is a legit crafting term, honest) my ribbon back and forth along the tape to get the shabby chic look. This is a very easy and forgiving technique, if you don't like the way the ribbon is laying just pull it up and try again. You get a few attempts before the tape isn't sticky enough to use. You have to have sparkle and shine on a Valentine's Day project so I added Journey Blue Skies Sequins randomly around the card and a Heart Sparkle Drop on the ribbon to embellish. Speaking of embellishments - did you know they are buy one get one free this month?! During the month of February you get twice the amazingness!
